“Regret for the time wasted can become a power for good in the time that remains, if we only stop the waste and the idle, useless regretting.”
– Jean De La Bruyere
We are driving to Tampa, Florida over Elliott’s spring break. We booked the trip a month in advance. We had no way of knowing what the weather would be or the exact temperature.
We will be prepared with at least the following.
-
Full tank of gas to start the trip.
-
Snacks.
-
800 gallons of drinks in case we get stranded in a desert along the way (wife has every cup holder filled with latte, soda, or water).
-
Credit cards and cash
-
Music
-
Extra clothes
-
Spare tire
-
Estimated time of departure is 730a on Good Friday.
Will we leave at precisely 7:30a? Probably not. Will we need 800 waters? Probably not. Are we going to have perfect weather? Hope so. Are we going to know exactly where we will stop along the way? Probably not. We may need to make more bathroom breaks with all the water we packed. Will I need every piece of clothing I packed? Probably not.
We will prepare the best we can and adjust when needed.
Same is true with retirement planning. We prepare the best we can. It may not go exactly how we plan. We may have health issues. We may have volatile markets. We may have higher taxes or a parent we need to take care of. You know what we do? We adjust.
If you want to know if you are on the right path or need some adjustments, we are just a phone call away. 843-970-1043 or click here.

On the lighter side, old age is a privilege not granted to everyone. Remember to enjoy life. Enjoy the ride. Plan for what you can and take the next step. Dark clouds may bring rain, but they also water the flowers.
Hope all is well with you and your family,
