“There’s a difference between knowing the path and walking the path.” – Morpheus, The Matrix
Naval Ravikant once said, “There are basically three really big decisions you make in your early life: where you live, who you are with, and what you are doing.”
I certainly agree.
In retirement, however, there are some additional questions I would ask…
- If you were to die today, what do you wish you would have done more of?
- Who would you wished you spent more time with?
- What conversations should have been had?
- What do you wish you did less of?
- What do you wish you did more of?
- If you knew you had only 5 years to live and were healthy up to that point, what would you do?
- Who would you spend more time with?
- How would you spend your time?
- What would you let go of?
- What would you do more of?
- 20 years from now you are at the end of life, you look back at today, what moments would be most cherished?
- What would you have wanted to avoid?
- What would you most regret, if it didn’t happen?
- How would you spend your time?
Answer these questions and ask your spouse for their answers.
Now walk the path…

On the lighter side, I went fly fishing for bonefish with some friends. First time I did that. It is the combination of hunting (looking for the fish), fishing (obviously), and golf (skill to hit the target when needed). Had a great time. Elliott’s tennis career will come to an end this week. He and the Myrtle Beach Seahawks play for the Lower State Championship this week and for the Championship Saturday (hopefully).
Hope all is well with you and your family,
Jeremy
