Retirement Challenges Can Be As Easy As An Ironman Triathlon – Finger Financial Five #36

“The man who is prepared has this battle half fought.” – Miguel De Cervantes

Thanksgiving last year I ran my first 5k in over 10 years.  I say ran, but it was more like trot/walk.  In September, I plan on completing a full Ironman, 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile run.  The most I have ever done is ½ Ironman about 20 years ago.

How in the world can I expect to do this? I HAVE NO IDEA, but my coach says I can.  My coach is Stu Mittleman.  One of his many records is running 577.75 miles in 6 days.  All I have to do is just follow the plan.  He has guided many people before me.

Could I fail?  Yes.  I could get injured.  I could have a family emergency, or 100 other things can happen.  But do I increase my chances of success by working with Stu? Yup.  Is my anxiety lower? Yup.  Do I have to do everything in one day?  Nope, just the next step.  This frees me to relax and enjoy the ride.  This is similar to when clients finally see their retirement plan for what it is — the mountain dissipates into a molehill.  We each just have to take the next step.

Retirement can be someone’s Ironman.  There is an almost insurmountable amount of information to digest.  Caring for aging parents, retiring to the Myrtle Beach area, helping family members financially, death of parent or spouse, changing jobs, starting or selling a business, tax efficient retirement distributions, proper asset location, are some of the financial situations people have to deal with.  Working with the right person, who has guided many people though that same task makes it a LOT easier.  Trust the process.  Take the next step.

You may totally overestimate what you can accomplish in one day, but UNDERESTIMATE what you can accomplish in a year.  Time takes time

Feel free to call or email me.  I may be able to point you in the right direction for your next best step.  Je****@Ri*********.com or Click here to setup a quick phone appointment.

On the lighter side, heading to Bulgaria this Saturday for two weeks.  I relax and read, read, read, when I am on vacation. What am I reading?  Medicare and You, Taxes and Retirement, College Funding Planning and Stu Mittleman’s book Slow Burn.

Hope all is well with you and your family,

Jeremy
