“Pursue your dreams but have a backup plan.” – Kane
When my dad and I would fish, we used primarily an electric motor. We always had paddles as a backup, in case of trouble with the battery or motor.
Do you have a backup plan for your work?? For many people early RETIREMENT was not a choice but a necessity. About a 1/3 of people who retired early, cited health problems or company related issues.
Don’t go up the river without a paddle.
We never really know what can happen in our lives. Many things are out of our control. You don’t ever know when and if the battery or motor will break. You CAN prepare. You can have a paddle. You can have a life jacket. You can have a back up plan.
When we do full planning for clients, we do just that…prepare. We move the retirement dates earlier or later, move longevity earlier and later, income needs up and down, move tax rates up and down, market returns up and down, to see what will happen.
Hopefully, you have smooth sailing, and everything goes according to plan. If not, we hope you have a proper back up plan.

On the lighter side, my nephew, Rivers, is 4 years old. My sister would hear him tell other kids he loves them. He would tell the person at Chic-Fila drive through, he loves them. My sister asked, “why do you tell everyone you love them?” Rivers quickly responded, “because I love everyone, mommy!” Wouldn’t the world be a little better place if we had more people like Rivers?
Hope all is well with you and your family,
