Three Questions To Ask Yourself To Retire Happy – Finger Financial Five #106

“In slowing down, we start to see the details of life; it is in the details that we find meaning, answers, solutions, and the beauty of life.” – Paraphrased from a book I read.

Retirement is not always a math problem in which the richest person in the graveyard wins. Instead, the ones that have lived a fulfilled life of meaning and purpose are the ones that have truly lived.

What your fulfilled life looks like is 100% up to you. To find out what that might look like is an inward reflection.

Three main questions to ask yourself.

The first is question is a fun one:

“If money was no issue, how would I live my life?”

Your financial excuses have vanished. Now what? What would you do? What would you change? What would a day look like for you?

Dream with your eyes open.

The second question is deeper:

“How would I live my life if I were totally healthy, but only had 5 to 10 years to live?”

What would you change? What would you do differently? What would you focus on?

Last question:

Suppose you only have 24 hours to live. Looking back on your life, what dreams would be left unfulfilled? What do you wish you had finished? What do you wish you had done?

If you’re married, maybe ask your spouse to answer these questions on their own.

Compare your answers. What was similar? What was different?

George Kinder is a Life Planning coach for financial Advisors. He talks about these questions here.

On the lighter side, Elliott did well on the SAT and submitted his application to the University of South Carolina. Hopefully, he gets early acceptance into the business school. We should hear something before Christmas.

I am starting to feel unprepared to be an empty nester.

Hope all is well with you and your family.
