“Wisdom is not a product of education; it is a result of a lifetime of learning.” – Albert Einstein
Elliott walked across the stage for graduation last night at the Academy of Arts, Science, and Technology. A simple task that represented much work and a lot of learning.
As he goes to the University of South Carolina, I think of my transition from high school to college. Schoolwork was more intense, but my growth was learning in other areas…
How do I wash clothes properly? The first time I did not use any detergent.
Buying groceries? They just showed up in the fridge at home.
Paying bills? What is that all about? Do I have to write checks and mail them with stamps? Where do I get stamps?
Does the power company charge this much?
I asked my Mom, Dad, and roommate tons of questions. As a result, I learned basic life skills. Some would say common sense too.
Retirement can be daunting too. However, you can have the resources to navigate the complexities so that you can focus on your best life.
These resources include a comprehensive wealth management team that coordinates with your CPA, tax attorney, estate attorney, and insurance provider. When this team works together, you should be able to focus just on what matters most to you and your family.
Elliott is better prepared than I was. That certainly is easy to do! 😊 He can rely on his Mom, Dad, and his Mimi to have his back and provide guidance when needed.

On the lighter side, I played some good and terrible golf this past weekend at the Member Guest golf tournament at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club. I told Elliott my handicap was not high enough relative to the way I played. He asked what a handicap is. I told him, they give me free shots to make my score even with better players. He said, “Oh, like if I gave you two queens instead of one in chess?”
Yes, Elliott, that is precisely what a handicap is.
Hope all is well with you and your family,
Jeremy
