Should You Take Financial Action or Not? – Finger Financial Five #103

“Life is a balance of holding on and letting go.” – Rumi

Everything is going to be all right.

If you have any resistance to that statement, this Finger Financial Five is for you. Watch this week’s video blog by clicking the play button below!

A question to ask yourself: “Is there anything I should do?”

Maybe.

Do you have:

  • One year or more in cash?
  • A holistic financial plan?
  • Investments allocated towards goals?
  • Risk management in place?
  • Live within your means?
  • A network of people who can help you with tax, estate, and investment planning

If you answer “yes” to everything, great. If not, call us

So, you check everything twice and still feel unsure everything is going to be all right? You are worried about the financial markets? The economy? What the future may hold?

And this worry causing you to miss out on peace today? Well, the good news is that this is on you. Why is that good? Because then it is something you can control.

For example, Elliott and Iren had a conflict the other day. Elliott told me his point of view. I asked if he told his mom his point of view. He said no, what’s the point; she is just going to say this or make me do that. He “knew” the outcome so was using it as an excuse. He was trying to avoid the difficult conversation. The avoidance caused him to suffer. He and his mom eventually had an open and honest conversation. Now everything is good. It does not mean each of them got exactly what they wanted, but through understanding comes peace.

What does this have to do with the economy and the financial markets?

Markets, like relationships, don’t always go like we want them to. That’s okay. That’s normal. When we work through it, we are healthier on the other side.

Peace is not the absence of pain.  Pain is necessary for healing. The suffering is optional.

The less attached you are to a specific outcome, the more peace you’ll have. The more attached, the more suffering.

Let go of things you cannot control.

Appreciate what you have.

Worry does nothing to fix the future. It just robs us of today’s peace.

Everything is going to be all right.

Retire Happy Podcast: Season 2 – Do You Need Home Care Assistance? With Kelli Jayroe (Ep.9) is posted.

On the lighter side, we toured the University of South Carolina Saturday. This is the top school on Elliott’s list. He wants to study business and finance. He will be close to his grandmother and aunt in Columbia and not too far from us. This is good.

Hope all is well with you and your family,

Jeremy
